Five blocks covers one of the most central and important pedestrian promenades of Centro Habana, from Paseo del Prado to Galiano Street the San Rafael Boulevard extends, a route that rejuvenates. As part of the actions for the 500th anniversary of the founding of the town of San Cristóbal de la Habana, emblematic works of the city, parks, cultural, gastronomic and service centers are being rehabilitated; among them this historic street. Having become a site of marked popular interest, San Rafael converges a multitude of people every day, to visit shopping centers or simply to recreate its vitality. Between the Inglaterra Hotel and the Gran Teatro de la Habana Alicia Alonso you can visit a number of commercial establishments, shops, galleries, parks, coffee shops, craft products sales areas, bookstores, restaurants, pharmacies and banks, among other spaces. All these places, along with the resuscitation program that is already developed in that artery, will be restored with the purpose of showing a renewed image of this ancient site.
Among the most significant transformations are the redesign and remodeling of the pavement (which includes the name of the site and the lighting of the pavement,), the renovation of urban furniture (construction of benches with planters, litter bins and luminaries, new cars for sales), the construction of lighting signs for installations, the lighting of buildings and the design of outdoor and indoor totems.
