The days after the passage of the tornado have been characterized by the integration of factors, collective leadership, discipline and solidarity, the need to proceed quickly, respect and concern for each affected citizen, stressed Wednesday the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
In his second appearance in the Round Table that analyzed the recovery of Havana, after the severe meteorological event of January 27, the president said: "Even the worst scenario challenges us to improve ourselves."
Díaz-Canel highlighted the efficiency, promptness, commitment and willingness with which the cadres have faced each of the tasks.
These circumstances "have given us the opportunity to approach the urgencies of the population," he said when intervening in the television space, accompanied by the Council of Ministers and other leaders, especially those who work in each territory on site with the population. .
The President recalled that two fundamental calls were made: "We asked the officials to have all the sensitivity to deal with the problems, and the population, who had confidence, patience and understanding of the situation."
He argued that only this procedure has allowed to exhibit results such as:
More than 9 thousand people have been assisted in the procedures offices.
More than 5 thousand 700 affectations have been concluded in the lifting of procedures (more than 60 percent).
More than 3 thousand 600 families (more than 50) have in their hands the necessary resources to recover from the affectations.
More than 900 cases solved (more than 10 percent).
Only 17 days after the tornado, such figures indicate that "working at that rate, before the end of the year we can have solved most of the cases," he predicted.
The principle has been to recover and, at the same time, emerge strengthened, said Díaz-Canel, recalling Fidel's ideas, "teachings that are still alive".
Referring to the response of the Government after the passage of the tornado, he said that "here no rolls of sanitary paper were thrown for the consolation of those affected; there were no delays or hesitations to restore basic services; everyone gave themselves with sensitivity, solidarity and commitment ".
In his appearance at the Round Table, the Cuban President reiterated how the State unleashed its capacity, together with the Government and mass organizations, to preserve human lives, prioritize the most vulnerable, quantify damages and allocate resources.
He appreciated that this reality is possible because the socialist system has two fundamental advantages: first, a planned economy that has human beings as its center and that never leaves anyone helpless, however many limitations it has, very different from the practice of neoliberal selfishness .
The second strength, he added, is to have one of the most solidary peoples in the world, with a broad sense of social justice, value of dedication and consecration, cultivated by the Revolution since it was conceived.
He praised that the get "By Havana the greatest" - the theme of the commemoration of the 500 years of the capital - has become an incentive to lift the spirits of the people.
"We will keep in memory the pride of a people who do not give what they have left, but share what they have".
"Now come the most challenging moments," said Diaz-Canel, referring to the recovery phase that will continue in the coming months, during which the support of grassroots leaders, the "anonymous heroes", will continue to be vital.
