On November 8 at two in the afternoon in the Hall of May in the Cuba Pavilion another presentation of the book The National Anthem of Cuba ”of the Master in Science José Antonio Pérez Martínez will be held, as part of the activities specially dedicated to render Tribute to Havana on the 500th anniversary of its foundation.

This important work, which is the result of its author's research work for almost thirty years, was initially presented on October 19 in the traditional Saturday of the book held in the Cuban capital and also circulated the book in Bayamo on the occasion of the National Culture Day celebration and also in Nueva Gerona, Isla de Pinos.

Precisely this book, which is the result of almost thirty years of research by its author, and which contains about 300 pages, has had a great acceptance among historians and researchers and other people, who have appreciated it in the cities of our country where it distributed on the occasion of the 151 anniversary of the beginning of the war for independence, the occupation of Bayamo, and the first time the people sang the National Anthem of Cuba.

The book is nominated for the 2019 Historical Critics Award “José Luciano Franco.”

Born on January 10, 1954 in Bayamo Pérez Martínez began to have a relationship with Havana since he was eight years old. Already in 1994 he began to reside permanently in the capital.

He is Professor of History of the Faculty of Medical Sciences "General Calixto García Íñiguez" of the University of Medical Sciences and the University College "San Gerónimo", as well as President of the Honorary Chair "Carlos Manuel de Céspedes" of Havana and President of the Union of Historians of Eastern Havana.
