The emblematic Focsa building in Havana became news, as there was a fire of small proportions in one of the elevators leading to the restaurant La Torre, without human or material losses.
One of the neighbors told the Cuban News Agency that at the time of the accident, she was waiting for the elevator, and that for the moment she heard the noise of a gas balita of those used for welding that apparently exploded, and remember to have heard the order to leave the building.
According to the administrator of La Torre, belonging to the Palmares group, as the internal system of the building has the shape of conduits, little by little the smoke spread.
He explained that this was due to the fact that it is lacking in the floor of an extractor, and that, in any minimal situation, they are called firefighters.
According to the witnesses, they acted quickly: in about 15 minutes, Commando Number 5 of the Directorate of the Fire Department located in the municipality of Centro Habana was already in the building, and they controlled the situation.
The administrator explained that in the Focsa there is a protocol against fires and that all the staff of the floors near the accident were evacuated, but the residents are already back to their apartments.
There are no visible damages on floors three and four, in which the fire occurred, nor on the surface of the damaged elevator.
The officer of the operative guard in the building informed that the incident occurred around 12:30 in the afternoon, and that the fire did not affect the houses, since it was well controlled.
