The Platino Iberoamerican Film Awards will give special recognition to the Havana International Film Festival in its 40th anniversary for its work of promotion, dedication and dissemination of the cinema of this region for four decades.
Also, to help enrich the Latin American and Caribbean cultural identity, under the direction of Alfredo Guevara, Julio Garcia Espinosa, Pastor Vega and Iván Giroud.
The award will be presented on December 6, coinciding with the opening day of the 40th anniversary of the Cuban event.
Adrian Solar, president of the Ibero-American Federation of Audiovisual Cinematographic Producers (FIPCA) will be in charge of delivering the statuette.
The International Festival of New Latin American Cinema (Havana Film Festival) was conceived as a continuation of the festivals of Viña del Mar (1967 and 1969), Mérida (1968 and 1977) and Caracas (1974), in which He cites films and filmmakers representative of the most innovative film trends in Latin America.
It was a definitive answer to the claim of a space that would guarantee the systematic encounter between the cinematographies of the continent and its creators.
For four decades and under the direction of renowned filmmakers, this festival has brought together the most important figures of Latin American cinematography.
Among them, directors and directors, actresses and actors, producers and producers, and many more than with their creative work, have marked important milestones in Ibero-American audiovisual development.
This is an event that aims to recognize and disseminate cinematographic works that contribute to the enrichment and reaffirmation of Latin American and Caribbean cultural identity, but also a space for exchange between Latin American countries with the United States, Canada and Europe.
The 40th edition of the event will be held from December 6 to 16, thus expanding a legacy that holds great names such as Jorge Sanjines, Glauber Rocha, Fernando Pino Solanas, Lucia Puenzo, Miguel Littin, Tomas Gutierrez Alea, Victor Gaviria, Sara Gomez , Humberto Solas and Arturo Ripstein.
Also, Carlos Diegues, Paul Leduc, Guillermo del Toro, Lucrecia Martel, Adolfo Aristarain, Eliseo Subiela, Mariana Rondon and Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu, among many others.
