To the poet Fayad Jamís, on the 30th anniversary of his physical disappearance, will be dedicated the space The timely praise, led by the journalist and critic Fernando Rodríguez Sosa, will be held on the 22nd, at four in the afternoon, at Librería Fayad Jamís, in the Historic Center of Havana.
The poet, essayist and critic Virgilio López Lemus and the narrator and essayist Virgen Gutiérrez will participate in this encounter, as well as actors from the Teatro Cimarrón group, directed by Alberto Curbelo Mezquida.
Poet, painter and journalist, Fayad Jamís - who was born in Zacatecas, in Mexico, in 1930, and died in Havana, in 1988 - taught painting, developed editorial and translation work and represented Cuba for several years in the service diplomatic.
In his bibliography appear, among other titles, the poetry books Vagabundo del alba, La pedrada, Los puentes, Abrí la iron gate and Por esta libertad, the last winner of the Casa de las Américas Prize in 1962.
The timely praise-which pays homage to writers, books, historical events and institutions that reach the closed anniversary-takes its name from the Martian aphorism "timely praise fosters merit; and the lack of timely praise discourages him ", which appears in the pages of the newspaper Patria, in April 1892.
