Cuban pianist and composer Frank Fernandez announced that he will dedicate a concert to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to honor his memory on the second anniversary of his death.

On November 21, four days before the ill-fated anniversary, the musician plans to offer the recital at 5:00 pm local time at the Jose Marti Memorial, and the entrance will be free for all the public, he told Prensa Latina news agency. who divulged the statements of the excellent instrumentalist.

Fernandez announced that he will perform works by the Austrian composer Franz Schubert, the Polish Fryderyk Chopin, the Cuban Ernesto Lecuona, as well as pieces of his own authorship.

Critics from several continents praise the virtuosity of this graduate pianist with a gold title at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow.

So far he is the only Cuban who holds the Pushkin Medal, granted directly by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

For some it is "a being touched by the divinity", others emphasize its power in the piano and most agree in cataloging it as one of the masterful interpreters of the most sublime moments of universal music and, therefore, one of the most pianists great in the world.

With more than two hundred prizes in his curriculum, Fernández has won the prestige of a versatile musician because his own compositions surpass 650 in different formats: ballets, choirs, soundtracks for film, radio, television and arrangements for popular music groups.

From his personal repertoire came popular themes, inside and outside of Cuba, the composition for the telenovela Tierra Brava, the series La Gran Rebelión, as well as the "Suite for two pianos", played by himself, one of them live in contrast with the other, previously recorded.

Inspired by Fidel, Fernández composed the work called "Ode to the Fatherland" to premiere on January 1, 1999, in the act of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
