More than a hundred young jazz players from the country's art schools participate in the XXI JoJazz 2018 International Competition, which takes place in the usual venues of the Bertolt Brecht Cultural Complex, the Mella Theater gardens, the Avellaneda hall of the National Theater and coffee Miramar until November 18.
At a press conference, Víctor Rodríguez, president of the organizing committee of the event, praised the importance of the jazz event that discovers the young talent of the island. He also remembered Alexis Vázquez who founded the contest twenty-one years ago.
"If we mentioned the most important music orchestras in the country, there are our young winners, such as Havana DPrimera, Roberto Fonseca and Temperamento, Luna Manzanares and Daymé Arocena."
The jury of the contest is composed of the outstanding musicians Pancho Amat, Barbarito Torres, Luis Lopez-Nussa, Michel Herrera, Alejandro Falcon, Carlos Miyares, Orlando Valle Maraca, Octavio Rodriguez and Jorge Reyes.
The closure of JoJazz is scheduled for five in the afternoon of Sunday 18 with the award and presentation of the winners in the Tito Junco Room, in the company of the Influence Group.
