The VI National Classic Road Cycling will begin today in Baracoa, with teams from the 15 Cuban provinces and a route of 295.3 kilometers (km) until arriving in the capital on the 17th.
Throughout 10 stages, the 15 casts of six cyclists will cross 13 provinces and will dispute 27 flying goals and seven mountain prizes.
The captain of the Astana Women`s Team, the manzanillo Arlenis Sierra, and her companion in that club, the cabaiguanense Heidy Praderas, will be incorporated in Ciego de Ávila as guests, as a preparatory to continue the season in the elite of world cycling.
The first sections of the Classic VI will be Baracoa-La Farola-Guantánamo (149 km, on March 7), Guantanamo-Santiago de Cuba (circuit) -Puerto Boniato (103.3 km, day eight) and Santiago de Cuba-Entronque de Birán -Rejondones-Holguín (142.4 km, the nine).
With 199 km, the longest route will be Holguín-Camagüey, on the 10th.
Then the caravan will travel Camagüey-Ciego de Ávila (106 km, on March 11) and Ciego de Ávila-Sancti Spíritus-Topes de Collantes (168.3 km, day 12).
March 13 will be the rest day, in Trinidad. Next, the Trinidad-Manicaragua-Cienfuegos stages (121 km, on the 14th) and Cienfuegos-Colón-Cárdenas (162.5 km, the 15th) will be contested.
The Varadero-Matanzas Individual Time Trial (29.2 km) will be on March 16 and the final leg Matanzas-Güines-La Habana (114.6 km) on Sunday 17.
