After two days of operation and an intense program of activities, the National Council of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators (ACCS) concluded today in the Palace of Conventions of this capital, which was focused on the use of communication and its importance in the current scenario.

During the closing session, Víctor Gaute, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, stressed that 2018 was a year in favor of social communication, which began with the approval of the policy that was the result of the efforts of specialists for many years and that started from the diagnosis of the needs of Cuban society.

He assured that communication not only has value because of its strategic nature, but with this the right of the citizen associated with information and knowledge is guaranteed.

In the midst of all that remains to be done, social communication constitutes a fundamental task of the Party, fundamentally in the political-ideological sphere, and the members of the ACCS contribute their ideas in the battles of a communicational type, he said.

He also said that the fact that the National Council attends representatives of the central government agencies, universities, students, and that, despite the heterogeneous composition, have the same point of interest, is a sign of integration of efforts for the sake of communication.

Gaute said that, with the potential of Internet access enabled in Cuba, there is a real battle on the web, in which the people participate actively and growing, and that opens a new extraordinary possibility of communication, clarification, information and, fundamentally, to defend our truth, taking into account the context that surrounds us.

In his speech he said that Cuban communicators have been an essential part of the battle for the Yes to the Constitution on February 24, which was successfully fought because they found ways to carry the message.

We must continue working with a lot of creativity, willingness, listening, and perfecting ideas that have an impact on society, he said.

At another point he referred to the peace poster that was shown in the context of the event, and in this regard he said: We should feel proud of the Cuban cartel that is treasured, and we should worry about recovering it as it was in the years 70, in terms of communicational work, demonstrated creativity, and vision of how to reach others with few resources.

He also spoke about the campaign dedicated to young people, The Joy of Living Cuba, and assured that it is a good way to accurately transfer to the new generations what it means for human beings to make their living in the largest of the Antilles.

In these days, the National Council of the ACCS took stock of the tasks carried out during the year 2018, which had the objective of contributing, from the Social Communication, to the updating of the economic and social model of the country, in close relation with the companies, organisms and institutions.
