In order to verify the means, mechanisms, structures and systems that will work on February 24, the day of the constitutional referendum in Cuba, a dynamic test was held this Sunday in the 4 207 electoral colleges of Havana.

Roberto Alejandro Cárdenas Santos, president of the Provincial Electoral Commission (CEP), informed the press that the first two hours were dedicated to tasks related to insurance, including transportation and telecommunications services.

As of 09:00 (local time), he said, a practical exercise was carried out to check the preparation of the electoral authorities and the communication from the schools to the computing centers of each municipality.

This activity was developed without difficulties and the information could be transmitted as planned, said Cardenas Santos.

In the referendum process, as in the election of deputies, the principle that voters must vote for their place of residence is maintained, but in case of personal circumstances, work situations or other causes, they can exercise their right to vote where they are.

The president of the CEP specified that in Havana 47 special schools will operate for this reason, located in centers with a high concentration of personnel such as air terminals and buses, hospitals, among others.

On February 24 more than one million 600 thousand voters are summoned to the polls to ratify the new Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, which was approved by the deputies on December 22 last, after an extensive process of popular consultation.
