Antonio Barreras was born in Havana. Outstanding writer, journalist and lawyer, he founded and directed the magazine "Mundo Contemporaneo", and also collaborated in different national publications. He devoted himself mainly to the study of the constitutional right of Cuba. He was the creator of the Hernández Catá Prize awarded annually by the Ministry of Education in Cuba for several years starting in 1942.
