The XVIII Young Film Festival will take place from April 2 to 7 in various cinemas in this capital, reported in a press conference held at the Fresa y Chocolate cultural center.

The event includes 42 works, including feature films and documentaries, which were pre-selected in response to their thematic values ​​and to stimulate the professional development of young filmmakers.

Juan Carlos Calahorra, of the Organizing Committee, pointed out that in most of the chosen cinematographic productions local traditions and customs are present and reflect the national reality with a very critical vision.

Among the works that will be presented are Ángela, by Juan Pablo Daranas, the story of a Cuban immigrant trying to break through in New York, and Alberto, by Raúl Prado, whose protagonist decides to return to Cuba and discovers a family secret.

Other titles that may be seen are Los amantes, by Alán González; The escape, by Ivette Ávila; A Chinese fell into a well, by Carlos Alejandro Halley; Sunset in the tropics, by Marta María Borrás, and El secadero, by Jorge Luís Aparicio.

Also the documentaries Cuba between sun and light, by Simone Mesquita; Day of Changó, of Denise Kelm; Forever Commander, by Faisal Attrache; La bonita, by María del Mar Rosario, and La finca del miedo, by Lara Sousa.

The program of the day includes conferences, workshops, exhibitions, special presentations and the usual sections Bonus, La Mirada del otro, Moviendo ideas and the presentation of the main contest awards, popularity and posters.

The venues of the exhibition, organized by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic) and with the support of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba, are the Charles Chaplin and 23 and 12 cinemas and the Charlot and Strawberry and Chocolate rooms
